Winter school on Cultural Institutions
IMAGINATION 3 was a two-week student school in Beirut, February 2012 under the theme “Cultural Institutions” in search for the synergy between Cultural Institutions and encouraging Civil Society. Through walks and sketching in the city, and through a public symposium and storytelling evening about Beirut’s present and past, the students recorded particulars, explored ideas and imagined visions for Cultural Institutions in Beirut under the sub-themes: City culture through the unplanned nightlife, Imagination in your neighbourhood, Cultural Institutions along Beirut River, Public spaces exchanging with layers of the city and Buildings as Civic Infrastructure. The students findings where manifested as 1:1 built installations, models, drawings and interventions showcased at a public opening.
IMAGINATION III was held in the St. Joseph Crypt - a crypt under a church in the area Monot in the center of Beirut and was a partnership between the Royal Danish Academy, independent Syrians, ALBA, LAU, AUC and Imaginations Cross Cultures.
